Liverpool are now trying to sign either Federico Valverde or Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid in this transfer window.
The Anfield giants had a good start to the summer transfer window with the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
But everything started going downhill with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving the Reds and moving to Saudi Arabia.
And recently the club lost the battle to sign both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Neil Jones wrote in his column on Caught Offside,
“On top of the Caicedo news came another blow for Liverpool, with Romeo Lavia also bound for Chelsea. This, in many ways, will hurt the Reds more.
Not because he’s a better player – he most certainly is not – but because this is a deal that Liverpool could and should have had sewn up.”
In this hostile situation, Jurgen Klopp needs to sign atleast one midfielder before the transfer deadline on September 1.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher criticized Liverpool as ’embarrassing’ as they had a ‘joke’ of a transfer window. He also mentioned that these recent failures have left the Reds into ‘an absolute mess’.
Liverpool trying to sign Valverde or Tchouameni from Real Madrid
According to a new report via Nacional, Liverpool are interested to sign either Valverde or Tchouameni as their next midfield reinforcement.
The Spanish news outlet suggested that the Merseysiders are ‘desperate’ to sign any one of the above-mentioned players. Klopp has asked the club to ‘reactivate interest’ in the pair.
The German is ‘in love’ with the Uruguayan midfielder as he had ‘already tried to sign’ him before. And now the coach wants to try again to sign the 25-year-old with Florentino Perez setting his price tag at £111M.
The Anfield giants would also try to sign Tchouameni if Valverde could not be signed. The Frenchman was already on Klopp’s radar.
He ‘tried to convince’ him to join the Reds from Monaco. But the French international made it clear that he ‘does not want to abandon’ the Los Blancos.
If Liverpool are able to sign any of the two midfielders then it would become a pretty valuable addition to the team.
