Liverpool are now reportedly making a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
The Merseysiders have been working this summer towards a midfield rehaul. They started off well with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
But all their plans took a wrong turn with Saudi clubs coming in and signing two of Liverpool’s most experienced midfielders.
And since then the Reds are trying to find replacements for freshly departed Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
The club was able to come really close to signing Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo before Chelsea came in and hijacked both the transfers.
Amid this situation, the Anfield giants turn towards Dutch youngster Ryan Gravenberch. The links between the club and the player have surfaced many times throughout the summer.
Former Dutch international and Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart even called the 21-year-old ‘better than Bellingham’.
Liverpool to move on to Gravenberch after Caicedo and Lavia disappointment
While speaking on Talking Transfers podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey dropped a major update. He said,
“The one I think to keep an eye on guys, I’ve said this all summer, I think Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
I think they might even do two, but I think Gravenberch could be one of them.He was waiting to see how the season goes with Bayern. I think he wants out.
I think he knows there’s a role he can play at Liverpool, so I’d keep an eye on him, I’m still hearing his name quite a lot.”
Gravenberch’s career has looked to become a standstill as he barely got any playing time last season. So he would definitely be looking for a change and making a move out of the German club.
And considering the situation, Liverpool are also in dire need of signing a defensively active midfielder. And both parties could benefit from the transfer if it happens.
Valued at £43m according to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool have already demonstrated this month that they have the finances to bring Gravenberch to Anfield, and the player may jump at the opportunity.
