Paul Merson has suggested that Liverpool should make a move for Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka if Mohamed Salah leaves the club in the coming days.
Since the Egyptian has been heavily linked to the Saudi clubs, Liverpool are forced to look at replacements.
But there have been doubts whether any winger could come close to the Egyptian’s goalscoring tally.
Moreover, Saudi outfit, Al-Ittihad have made a £150m bid for the 31-year-old already. While the Saudi transfer window is open till the 7th of September, 6 days after the English window has been closed.
Moreover, it has been recently revealed that despite Liverpool’s stance on the player, the Saudi club haven’t given up on Salah.
They still have their hopes of signing the player. As per reports, they look to make an improved bid of £200m to persuade Liverpool.
‘If Liverpool sell Salah, then they should get Saka’
Speaking to Sky Sports, Paul Merson has suggested that if Liverpool are to take the £200m for Salah, they could get Bukayo Saka for £150m, in January.
“They[Liverpool] sell (Salah) for £200million, and then in January, see if they can get Saka from Arsenal for £150million.”
Liverpool remain at risk of losing Salah, but Klopp has insisted that the 31-year-old is not for sale. Moreover, Dominik Szoboszlai has said that the player is happy at the club. However, if things change over the coming days then Saka would be a great replacement for Salah.
But Liverpool have to manage to secure the Englishman’s signature in January, which could prove to be difficult.
Arsenal are highly unlikely to allow the 21-year-old to leave as he has proven himself as a talismanic figure for them.
Hence, it is going to be interesting to see whether Liverpool would keep Salah or spend big to get Saka. If they are to take Merson’s advice seriously, they have to spend a lot on Saka to convince him.
