Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp heavily praised the Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah in the post-match interview after the victory against Aston Villa.
The Reds secured an impressive 3-0 victory against Aston Villa on Sunday at Anfield. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring with a left-footed footed stunner from the edge of the box.
The Hungarian international scored his first Liverpool goal in the third minute of the game. Then 20 minutes later Darwin Nunez’s shot ricocheted off the post and Matty Cash scored an own goal.
And to round off the scoring, Mohamed Salah finished off Nunez’s header from a corner in the 55th minute.
Klopp praises Salah after Liverpool win against Aston Villa
The Liverpool gaffer praised Salah for his performance against the Villains even after so much speculation about his future at the club.
Speaking to Sky Sports Klopp commented on the situation by saying,
“He played a top game. Mo had to work super hard and he did. I never had any doubt about his commitment to this club.
You can’t imagine how much fuss the world has made but how calm we are with it. He is our player and wants to play here.”
Amid all the reports suggesting the 31-year-old will leave this summer to join the Saudi Pro League, this statement firmly establishes the club’s stance.
Salah has scored 2 goals and assisted 2 goals so far this season in just 4 games. This goes to show how important and impactful the Egyptian international is.
Overall the match was full of ups and downs. Joel Matip and Joe Gomez were able to maintain a clean sheet thanks to Alisson’s performance.
Trent Alexander-Arnold got injured and that is still concerning on how his situation will develop. But Jarell Quansah got his Anfield debut as he replaced Trent.
The coming days will be telling how things will unfold as the Saudi transfer window closes on September 7.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
