Liverpool have submitted a €60M bid for Real Madrid star Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan has attracted Jurgen Klopp’s attention since last summer.
The Merseysiders have already signed the first player of the season, Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Liverpool are going full throttle this transfer season to bolster the midfield.
According to a report by Nacional, Federico Valverde will supposedly have to leave the club this summer. As Los Blancos have signed Liverpool target Jude Bellingham, they will be off-loading some players. And the Uruguayan is said to be one of them.
On the other hand, Real Madrid’s star forward Karim Benzema left the club for free to join Saudi side Al-Ittihad. So the Spanish giants will be looking forward to signing a striker.
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe has rejected to sign a one-year contract extension until 2025 with Paris Saint Germain. His contract with PSG runs out in 2024. So he will be a definite option for Real Madrid to consider.
Federico Valverde to join Liverpool from Real Madrid?
As per the report, Real Madrid are ‘willing to negotiate the transfer’ of Federico Valverde to Liverpool this summer as Klopp is still keen on signing the midfielder. Klopp was ‘amazed and in love with Valverde’s incredible qualities’ and already wanted to sign the Uruguayan last summer.
The Reds initially submitted an offer of €60M last summer and upon being rejected offered €80M plus €20M add-ons that made the deal worth €100M. But at that time Real Madrid President Florentino Perez straight up rejected the offer.
He considered the 24-year-old ‘indispensable’ at that moment in time and wanted to capitalize on the situation and sign a contract extension. But the contract extension still hasn’t been signed yet.
The Uruguayan was the one to provide the assist for the only goal scored by Vinicius Jr. in last year’s Champions League Final against the Reds. He also had a good start to the season. But after returning from the World Cup he hasn’t been the same. His game time reduced and his impact as a player has also decreased.
In this situation, Perez wants to sell the midfielder but will not receive any less than €100M. But negotiations are underway to sign the player as Klopp needs a physical presence in the midfield.
Manchester United also want to sign the 24-year-old so it would be interesting to see how Liverpool handles this deal.
