Liverpool believe that they have one of the best back-up keepers in the Premier League in Caoimhin Kelleher, amidst concerns over an injury to Alisson Becker.

As per reports from The Athletic, Liverpool could start their backup goalkeeper, Kelleher next game. Alisson Becker has reportedly been injured in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City over the weekend.

Although Alisson didn’t have one of his best games, he was crucial in the Reds clinching one point off of the champions. At the end of the game, however, the Brazilian was dealt with an injury blow at the Etihad.

Liverpool impressed with Caoimhin Kelleher

The 31-year-old went down due to injury late in the game but carried on as there were no substitutions left. But now the Reds face a nervy wait to see whether he will be out for a substantial period of time.

However, should the Brazilian be out due to an injury, Kelleher would be presented with an opportunity. It would be a chance for the Irishman to feature in the Premier League.

Liverpool forward slammed for what he did against Pep post-Man City draw

The Republic of Ireland international has not yet played in the top flight this season. However, he has been involved in the Europa League. And Liverpool are optimistic that Kelleher is ready to fill in for Alisson if needed.

Moreover, reports reveal that Kelleher is seen by the Liverpool hierarchy as one of the best back-ups in the Prem.

Hence, the Merseysiders refused to consider any offers for the Irishman over the summer transfer window.

Although Kelleher might not really replace Alisson while he is out due to injury, it would still be a great opportunity.

It would present him with a great chance to showcase his abilities and boost his market value. If he is to leave Liverpool in the future, his playing would be a great way to gain interest.
