Liverpool, following a 1-1 draw with Manchester City, are now gearing up for a Europa League clash against LASK on Thursday.
The draw with City leaves Jurgen Klopp’s team just two points behind league leaders Arsenal in the Premier League.
The Reds, currently topping their group in the Europa League, are set to face LASK at Anfield, aiming to maintain their impressive record in the competition.
In post-match events, forward Darwin Nunez, involved in a confrontation with City manager Pep Guardiola, has been criticized by Garth Crooks in his Team of the Week column for BBC Sport.
Crooks on Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez
Crooks suggests that Nunez should focus on goal-scoring rather than picking fights and venting frustrations.
“Nunez should really spend his time concentrating on why he’s not scoring more goals instead of picking fights and venting his frustrations with the opposition manager because he’s been substituted.”
Said Crooks.
Liverpool are awaiting updates on the fitness of goalkeeper Alisson and forward Diogo Jota, who picked up knocks during the City game.
Klopp gives injury update
Klopp expressed concern about their injuries, stating that assessments and scans are needed to determine the severity.
“I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is. I spoke to him [Alisson] and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan.”
Said Klopp.
In a surprising revelation, Mohamed Salah shared in an interview with Sky Sports that he is “addicted to chess” and plays the game every day.
Salah mentioned that some people doubt his identity when playing online and, when asked about his skill level, stated that he’s good but not on the level of chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.
Salah is not alone in his love for chess within the Liverpool squad, as Trent Alexander-Arnold has previously played against Carlsen in 2018, although he lost.
