Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the Championship’s Young Player of the Season, Alex Scott, who could provide a long-term option in midfield.

With Liverpool looking to bolster their attack, Klopp has his eyes on the 19-year-old midfielder. Scott has been one of the stand-out performers in the Championship this season. He has been instrumental in Bristol City’s campaign.

Liverpool were reported to be monitoring Alex Scott, last month. Moreover, Scott has been hailed by Guardiola when the two sides met in the FA Cup 5th round. Additionally, Nigel Pearson, Bristol City’s coach also said that he is a ‘unique talent.’

A few reports said that Liverpool sent scouts to watch the midfielder play for England under 20s when they faced Germany last month.

Liverpool tracking the progress of Alex Scott

Alex Scott has been one of the names in a long list of midfield targets for the Reds. Keifer MacDonald of the Liverpool Echo reported that the Reds are keeping ‘a close eye on his development.’

“The ECHO understands Liverpool are aware of the progress being made by the teenager.”

Scott is already playing for England under-20s and will soon take part in U20 World Cup alongside Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah.

The Bristol City midfielder was named the Championship’s Young Player of the Season last month. Also, his manager, Nigel Pearson, has valued him at “more than £25 million.’ However, it is a huge sum for an unproven player in the highest division playing under Klopp.

Moreover, Liverpool are now being linked to a few midfielders, who have been in the top flight. Players like Mount, and Mac Allister have played in the first division for a while now. They are experienced to play at the big stages like the World Cup and Champions League finals.

This might seem like a gamble for sure but Klopp is known for transforming players. Take Andy Robertson for example. But, if Klopp could see a rising star in Scott and thinks he could be a great fit for the Reds, then they should go for the Englishman.
