Liverpool FC are reportedly showing interest in Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo, as they consider him an “ideal” replacement for their star player Mohamed Salah, who has been a target for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.
During the recent summer transfer window, Liverpool primarily focused on strengthening their midfield, investing approximately £150 million in signings like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
However, they were also linked with several attacking options due to ongoing rumors of Salah’s potential departure to Al-Ittihad.
Al-Ittihad had previously made a significant £150 million bid for Salah, which Liverpool promptly rejected.
Although they did not return with an improved offer before the transfer window closed, there is speculation that they may revive their interest in Salah in January or next summer.
In anticipation of Salah’s potential departure, the Reds are prepared to make a substantial investment to find a suitable replacement.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo has now emerged as a potential target. The La Liga giants signed Rodrygo for around €45 million from Santos in 2018, and he impressed with 19 goals and 11 assists in 57 appearances across all competitions last season.
Although Rodrygo has been a regular starter for Los Blancos in the first five La Liga games of the current season, there are reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes, suggesting that Real Madrid might consider offers for him, particularly with the possible arrival of Kylian Mbappe next year.
Liverpool in the race to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid next year
The Anfield outfit has entered the list of clubs interested in the Brazilian winger due to the perceived threat of Salah’s departure to Saudi Arabia.
Liverpool’s decision-makers view Rodrygo as an “ideal” solution, but Real Madrid would only be open to negotiations if offers surpass the €100 million mark.
It is acknowledged that completing the transfer could be challenging, especially if Salah leaves Jurgen Klopp‘s side in January. Nevertheless, Rodrygo remains a subject of discussion at Anfield.
Michail Antonio of West Ham recently claimed that Salah was ready to leave Liverpool during the summer, although the move did not materialize.
Salah, according to Antonio, did not protest the situation and allowed Liverpool to handle it, but he expressed a desire to leave.
“He didn’t turn that down, no way. He was locked up and the Reds had put that red arrow across: ‘You are not going anywhere’.
He did not stop that at all. To be fair to him, he didn’t kick up a fuss and let them do what they were doing. But I know for a fact that he was ready to go.”
Said Antonio.
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
