Liverpool have reportedly made OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram their new transfer priority, with the 22-year-old open to a move to Anfield.
According to L’Equipe, the Reds have identified the French international as their next big move in the market. Thuram is viewed by many as an ideal addition to Liverpool this summer.
Thuram was one of the breakout names in Europe last season and has now established himself with the French national team. Moreover, the Premier League seems to be the midfielder’s next move having become a star at Nice in the last 12 months.
Thuram has been praised for his all-round game as well as his physical stature. And for Liverpool, making the midfielder their new priority could be an excellent decision in the window.
Indeed, Jurgen Klopp could do with a versatile midfielder who is still also learning the ropes of the game. And in Thuram, the German has the perfect target already on his radar to fill this role for the Merseyside giants, one that could be taken for years to come.
Along with the Nice man, the Anfield club is also in contact to sign the Monchengladbach midfielder in Manu Kone. The Frenchman who is also 22, is seen often along Thuram frequently and they are said to be like ‘brothers’.
Liverpool can soon make Thuram their second signing of this summer
After signing Mac Allister from Brighton, Klopp could breathe a sigh of relief. But he would know that it would take more than one signing to fix that midfield.
Thuram has been considered by many to be the perfect fit for Klopp’s midfield. At only 22, he has been catching the eyes of many elite clubs from across Europe.
But many reports have suggested that the Reds are in advanced talks with the player. Some reports have also suggested that the player has no issues playing at Anfield.
The rumours were further escalated when the player’s agents was at Nice’s headquarters. This has fuelled speculations on the player’s future and his imminent move to Anfield.
Thuram is firmly on the path to superstardom after an incredible year with Nice and breaking into the national team. And the midfielder could be the dream signing for Liverpool this summer if they’re willing to meet the reported £50m asking price.
At 22, Thuram is only going to get better from here. Also, with Liverpool, it would be the perfect environment for a player as young as the French midfielder to work under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
Moreover, this transfer could be perfect for all parties should the Reds manage to secure a deal quickly enough for the Ligue 1 dynamo.
