Liverpool have flown to Brazil for talks over £20M transfer – Not Andre

Liverpool are actively pursuing Sao Paulo’s young center-back, Lucas Beraldo, for a potential move to the Premier League.

The club has extensively scouted the 19-year-old who is now in Brazil for discussions regarding a transfer to Anfield.

Lucas Beraldo to Liverpool?

According to a report from Spanish newspaper Diario AS, representatives from Liverpool have traveled to Brazil to discuss a potential transfer to Anfield.

The estimated cost for securing Beraldo’s talent is around £20 million, a move that could significantly bolster their defensive lineup.

Although the midfield concerns from the previous season have improved, manager Jürgen Klopp is wary of his current crop of central defenders’ proneness to injuries.

While Virgil van Dijk has regained his form after struggling after his ACL injury in 2020, other key defenders like Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Ibrahima Konate tend to suffer from recurring muscle injuries throughout the season.

Konate’s recent absence from the squad against Brentford emphasized the need for more dependable options in the center-back position.

This has prompted Liverpool to explore multiple defensive targets, including their scouting of Goncalo Inacio during a significant Sporting Lisbon vs. Benfica match in Liga Portugal.

The club’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements has seen them previously interested in Andre, but recent reports conflict with the current status of that interest.

Some sources suggest ongoing interest from Liverpool, although negotiations have reportedly hit a snag with Fluminense due to the club’s firm stance, testing the patience of the Brazilian side.
