Liverpool are reportedly growing interest in young Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren who currently plays for Royal Antwerp.

The Anfield giants completed an extensive midfield rebuild this summer with 4 signings. And they were able to do it under £150M which is quite remarkable in this market.

They signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch. And it has been paying off very well.

Despite losing several senior midfielders, the team looks solid in the middle of the park.

However, the Reds have already started scouting work across Europe in search of the next big thing to be ahead of the football world.

Moreover, the latest report has provided with important update regarding that.

Liverpool eyeing Arthur Vermeeren

According to the latest report via Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Merseysiders are ‘following strongly’ Vermeeren’s progress.

The other clubs also keeping an eye on the youngster are Barcelona, Brighton, Manchester United, Ajax and RB Leipzig. But Barcelona are very much interested in the Belgian midfielder.

The Belgian U-21 has already made 43 appearances for Antwerp while scoring one goal and providing 4 assists across all competitions.

He has also been a part of the winning team who clinched the Belgian Pro League and Cup double.

The young defensive-midfielder is being compared to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta for his technical abilities.

The match between Barcelona and Antwerp would have been a great opportunity for the Blaugrana officials to have a closer look at the Belgian midfielder.

Although the La Liga giants completely outplayed the Belgian Pro League’s side thumping them by 5-0.

The 18-year-old’s contract with the Belgian giants runs out in 2026. However, the club does not think they will be able to keep him till then and expects that he will leave next summer.

The report has estimated his value at around £13-17M (€15-20M) although his value could be much higher.

Should Liverpool go in for Vermeeren is a great dilemma. The Reds midfield is obviously quite set for now.

But the defense requires some fixing to do and the Merseysider club should focus on that in the next transfer window.
