Liverpool FC update: February fixtures
As the international break ends, key players return from injury and new signings arrive at Anfield. Liverpool FC heads into a busy month, fighting for four trophies.
FA Cup
February starts with Cardiffās visit to Anfield for the 4th round of the FA Cup. The Bluebirds currently sit at 20th position in the EFL Championship. Thus, Liverpool are expected to cruise past their Championship opposition. However, this fixture could mark the return of Harvey Elliot from injury. Elliot last played against Leeds in September in the Premier League.
Liverpool FCās Premier League fixtures
Liverpool FC takes on Leicester at home on 10th February, Burnley away on 13th and, Norwich at home on 19th February. Liverpoolās brand-new signing, Luis Diaz might even feature against Leicester. But there is no room for error now and Liverpool needs to come out on top in these fixtures to pose any challenge to City.
Although The Reds are 9 points behind Man City, they have a chance to reduce the deficit and even leapfrog them in the title race. City have a trickier list of fixtures, as they take on Brentford(H), Norwich (A), Tottenham(H), and Everton (A). Thus, it is absolutely necessary that Liverpool capitalise and aim for maximum points.
Meanwhile, a fixture cancelled before due to COVID will now take place on Wednesday, Feb 23, 7.45 pm GMT.
Champions League Round of 16, First Leg
Liverpool travels to the San Siro in Champions League to face Inter on 16th February. The two sides havenāt faced each other since 2008, where Liverpool beat them 3-0 on aggregate. Liverpool have faced Inter four times, winning thrice and losing once.
The Reds would want to bring a positive result back to Anfield even though, the away goals rule has been scrapped. In fact, Liverpool would be favourites to advance as Inter would be without key players. However, Liverpool must be wary and lethal to bury them before they arrive at Anfield.
Carabao Cup Final
Finally, Liverpool take on Chelsea at Wembley on 27th February in the Carabao Cup Final. Liverpool would look to add potentially the first of many trophies this season. This is Liverpoolās first final since 2019 and Jurgen Klopp would like his men to lift the first domestic cup under his reign.
