The audio recording of the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) decision regarding Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal in the Liverpool vs Tottenham game has been made public, raising questions about the transparency of the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited).
In the released clip, at the 49-second mark, VAR Darren England can be heard saying, “Check complete, check complete. That’s fine, perfect.”
This statement is also reflected in the subtitles, and the screen clearly indicates that Liverpool’s No.7 is in an onside position.
However, what’s conspicuously missing from the transcription is the explicit mention of the word “Off.”
This omission is significant as it implies that the disallowance of the goal may not have been a wrongful decision, but rather an error in judgment.
This interpretation raises concerns because it suggests that it wasn’t a miscommunication issue but rather a genuine mistake in the decision-making process.
