Liverpool academy graduate Luke Chambers has impressed Reds vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold on his debut Thursday night against Toulouse.
The Merseysiders again secured a comfortable 5-1 victory against French side Toulouse last night in a UEL clash. And the whole team displayed great effort and class throughout the match.
Playing at Anfield the team started out without star players like Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and so on. Despite this, the Reds opened the scoring with a goal from Diogo Jota.
Although the French team equalized in the 16th minute, they were far from saving the game. The scoring from the Anfield side continued with Wataru Endo, Darwin Nunez, and Ryan Gravenberch.
And Mohamed Salah put the final nail in the coffin with a 93rd-minute goal from open play.
However, a player who was the talk of the game was Luke Chambers who made his debut in the Reds senior outfit.
Alexander-Arnold impressed by Luke Chambers
Due to Andy Robertson’s unavailability for injury, Klopp was left with only two choices of left-backs, Kostas Tsimikas and Luke Chambers.
The boss chose to give a starting chance to the 19-year-old and he did not disappoint.
After the match, the LFC skipper for the match, Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke to the media about the youngster’s performance. BBC Sport quoted him,
“I’ve seen it was seven years yesterday since my debut. I still know exactly how it feels.
He’s been outstanding every time he’s been around the team on and off the pitch.
He’s a real amazing player and he’s got great potential. I’m sure he’ll have a special night with his family.”
The teenager statistically was not quite convincing. He secured a pass completion percentage of 77% (23/30), but failed to win any of the 5 duals (stats via Sofascore).
However, it is safe to say that Chambers is a great talent and will only continue to grow. He might also become a crucial part of the team with his immense potential.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
