Liverpool are continuing their search for a new manager, all while Jurgen Klopp hopes to end his tenure by winning the Premier League title, and Ruben Amorim is one of the favorites to lead the side.
After Manchester City and Arsenal played out an underwhelming 0-0 draw on Sunday, Liverpool remained top of the table thanks to their crucial 2-1 comeback win at home to Brighton.
Klopp’s side are now in control of their own destiny, knowing that nine wins from their last nine league games would see them become champions for only the second time in 34 years.
Klopp’s departure from Liverpool, announced in January, has sparked speculation about his successor, regardless of the team’s performance in May. Candidates vying for the position have been vocal since the announcement.
Ruben Amorim ‘Bothered’ Amid Exit Links
There’s already speculation that ex-Chelsea and current Bayern Munich assistant Anthony Barry will be succeeding him in Lisbon, to which title-winning manager Amorim responded,
“The only thing that bothers me is that they already had a replacement for me, but today I told [Sporting director of football Hugo] Viana to be calm and that’s not the case. It was the only thing I paid attention to.”
Klopp Confirms Salah Fitness Boost
Mohamed Salah is now back to full fitness, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed. Liverpool’s talisman scored the winning goal against Brighton to take the Reds top of the table until at least Wednesday when Arsenal and Man City next play.
After Sunday’s 2-1 win, Klopp commented on Salah’s return to top form after an injury-filled start to 2024. ‘Absolutely,’ affirmed the Liverpool boss,
“Playing-wise, Mo is back. Imagine if he had capitalized on all his chances throughout his career, the numbers would be astounding.”
Klopp’s Praise For ‘Incredible’ Mac Allister
Klopp praised Alexis Mac Allister’s ‘absolutely incredible’ performance against Brighton, where the £35 million signing impressed throughout the match, notably assisting Mohamed Salah’s winning goal with a well-placed through ball at Anfield.
“I saw a lot of special performances today. Yes, Macca was incredible – absolutely incredible – but when you have that kind of talent when you have that kind of character, then you should show it.”
