Jurgen Klopp gives a major hint of Liverpool’s potential lineup vs Brentford – Trent in Mid?

Jurgen Klopp hinted at a potential lineup change for Liverpool’s match against Brentford due to several midfielders being unavailable.

Injuries to Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Curtis Jones, along with Alexis Mac Allister‘s suspension, have left limited options in midfield.

There’s also doubt about Ryan Gravenberch‘s availability due to a minor knee issue.

Klopp entertained the idea of deploying Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield, acknowledging his capability in that position.

However, he stressed the importance of not overlooking Alexander-Arnold’s proficiency as one of the world’s top right-backs.

“Yeah, a possibility, it depends on the situation, the opponent, on a lot of things. We know that he can play there.

For us, if we just put him there then we lose one of the best right-backs in the world, so we should not forget that completely at least. Of course he is an option for that position.”

Said Jurgen Klopp.

The starting lineup might depend on Gravenberch’s fitness. Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to start, and the absences could see Wataru Endo making his first Premier League start since August. Should Gravenberch not recover in time, Harvey Elliott might step in.

If these players start, Klopp might face a shortage of midfielders on the bench. As a potential solution, Alexander-Arnold could feature in midfield, with Joe Gomez taking up the right-back position.

Despite the selection challenges, Klopp has navigated such situations before and is likely considering various options for the game.

Alexander-Arnold has experience playing in advanced roles, having been used in an inverted full-back position last season and performing well in midfield during England’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
