After nearly nine years at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp is finally set to depart at the end of the season. Obviously, his fans and pundits are curious about his next move. However, it seems Klopp’s future plans have been decided, and they involve something unexpected.
Klopp’s wife Ulla has played a significant role in mapping out his post-Liverpool journey. Rather than diving into another managerial role or opting for a high-profile position, Klopp is looking for a lifestyle change.
Ulla has insisted that her husband should take up cooking and dance classes once he bids farewell to Anfield. In an interview with Sky News, Klopp humorously shared his wife’s directives, revealing,
“There’s a few things Ulla [Klopp’s wife] told me – I have to learn cooking and a dance class.
I said you don’t want me to have a break because if I do that I will start working after four weeks again!”
Despite his light-hearted tone, Klopp expressed a genuine interest in embracing these new activities. He also acknowledged his culinary shortcomings, admitting,
“I should learn cooking probably so I can at least make some breakfast or whatever.
This will be the first time in my life where I don’t have a real idea of what I will do and that’s exactly what I want.
During COVID I did scrambled eggs but after that I forgot it again.
I was raised in the Black Forest with two sisters, the only reason I knew where the kitchen was because the smell came from there!
I’m pretty useless in private life.”
Jurgen Klopp: From Football Pitch to Kitchen and Dance
He jokingly mentioned his previous attempt at cooking scrambled eggs during COVID-19 lockdown. However, Jurgen Klopp seems eager to test his skills in the kitchen. Klopp is set to make a departure from his usual intent and demanding career in football management after 20 years.
“We talk and remind the boys of the things we are really good at because we are really good.
That’s the reason we are where we are, we just have to show that every day and that’s now the situation.
That’s not new, for some the situation might be a bit new but that’s when the more experienced players have to step in and lead the pack on the pitch.
For me I’ve had enough parades and parties, it was never about that and it will never be (about that).
But I would love to give the people the opportunity to celebrate something special and I think it would be right as well.
I’m still happy we are still in that fight. I want to make sure we really go for it.
Sometimes life and football are the same you need a proper smash to realise why you do what you do and we got that smash and we will use it.
What’s important is that the Liverpool people are happy with what we did that’s the only important thing.”
Reflecting on his tenure at Liverpool, Klopp reiterated that his motivation has always been to bring joy to the club’s supporters.
He expressed a desire to celebrate special moments with the fans and ensure their happiness remains paramount.
From the intensity of the football pitch to the serenity of the kitchen and dance floor, Klopp’s journey promises to be as diverse as his coaching career.
