New reports have hinted that Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara has been in talks with Galatasaray officials. The Turkish side is interested to sign the Spanish midfielder.
According to Turkish news outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray President Erden Timur has traveled to England for having discussions with Thiago for a potential transfer. This news comes amid growing rumours of the departure of the Spanish international this summer.
Liverpool are very open to sell the 32-year-old. The Reds have already successfully acquired two new midfielders and now they are looking forward to the third signing. So they are trying to offload some senior players and free up funds.
Galatasaray are really interested to sign him and the Merseysiders could capitalize on this opportunity and raise some much-needed capital for the other signing.
The Spanish international joined the Merseysiders in September 2020 from Bayern Munich for just £20M. And soon he made his way into the team and made his presence felt.
But in the last 12 months, he has been out of the game several times due to injuries. He had only 18 PL appearances in the 2022-23 season. With his contract expiring in 2024 now Klopp and the club has decided to hear some offers for the 32-year-old.
Thiago Alcantara to move to Galatasaray from Liverpool?
Thiago is reportedly earning a salary of £225K per week which takes up a large portion of the wages. If this deal goes through then they will have a lot of funds available for suitable candidates.
But reports available are still not quite believable whether the star midfielder wants to stay or leave. But if he leaves then Galatasaray can be a valid option for him. Especially as the Turkish giants qualified for the UCL next season.
This deal could become beneficial for all the parties involved. Galatasaray could add a great player to their team, Thiago would get to play Champions League football and Liverpool could get some good money out of this business.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
