The future of Thiago Alcantara at Liverpool seems pretty tumbling as the club has received bids for a potential move. Jurgen Klopp does not have much trust in the Spanish midfielder.
Liverpool endured a rough 2022-23 season and they missed some major opportunities. The Reds have identified the problem and are working to fix that. The team mostly struggled in the middle of the park and so a midfield revamp has become much-needed.
LFC already freed up wages and let some players go for free. And they have signed players worth almost £100M. Another signing worth £50M might be happening very soon. Meanwhile, transfer rumours of Thiago Alcantara have surfaced up as the summer transfer window opened earlier this month.
The Spanish international joined the Merseysiders in September 2020 from Bayern Munich for just £20M. And soon he made his way into the team and made his presence felt.
But in the last 12 months, he has been out of the game several times due to injuries. He managed to put up 18 PL appearances. With his contract expiring in 2024 now Klopp and the club has decided to hear some offers for the 32-year-old.
Liverpool receives Thiago Alcantara transfer bids
Obviously, a link with Saudi Pro League has emerged as Roberto Firmino has also moved to the Middle East. But the most prominent news comes from the Turkish media where they claim that an official bid might come from Galatasaray.
As per reports, the Turkish giants won the domestic league title and now they look to recruit furthermore to strengthen the team.
The club already signed high-profile players like Mauro Icardi and Juan Mata. And reportedly club officials will reach England on Monday for transfer talks.
Speaking on Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano spoke about the Thiago situation. He assured that Thiago’s preference is actually to stay at Anfield. He explained furthermore,
“Liverpool, it’s crucial to understand what happens with the midfielders. There remains rumours on Thiago but from what I am hearing, it’s not something concrete as of today – but this could change.
Maybe some Saudi club arrives and puts in a bid for crazy money. But the approaches from Saudi for Thiago, from what I am hearing, were like four or five weeks ago… And they were just some calls, not proper bids or advanced negotiations.
Also because from what I am hearing the absolute priority of Thiago is to continue with Liverpool. If Liverpool change their mind we will see. But at the moment, they have every intention to continue together next season.”
The Reds will certainly need more legs in the midfield next season although some new players have arrived.
We at Anfield Home think that Liverpool should extend Thiago’s contract for one more year till 2025 and maybe look for potential suitors next summer.
