Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared crucial information regarding the next destination for Xabi Alonso as a manager.
The Anfield giants are going to face one of the toughest times in their history this coming summer as boss Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to back down from his role at the end of this season.
The search for the perfect candidate to replace the German has already been started by the club authority.
Even though several exciting names have been doing the rounds, nothing concrete had been reached yet.
The name which has surfaced up the most amid the chaos has been of Xabi Alonso’s. The Spaniard being a former Red had been an obvious choice.
Currently 1st in Bundesliga, his side is destined to secure their first Bundesliga title in the club’s history.
His displays with Bayer Leverkusen have been really impressive and has captivated many eyes. They have also made him an alluring prospect for clubs seeking managerial remedy in near future.
Liverpool are also one of the clubs who have been interested in securing the services of the 42-year-old. However, recently Alonso has decided that he would love to extend his endeavours with Leverkusen.
Xabi Alonso to Bayern Munich?
According to renowned journalist Florian Plettenberg Xabi Alonso has already made his mind up on where he wants to move on to. He stated,
“Bayern are pushing for him but there are no negotiations. Talks have taken place, no negotiations. It’s difficult to get him, but Bayern Munich is optimistic. Clubs like Liverpool and Real Madrid want to sign him. But, again, our clear information: If he would leave Leverkusen in the summer, he would join Bayern Munich and not Liverpool.”
Alonso’s contract with Leverkusen runs out in summer 2026. It has also been reported that he would join Bayern Munich and wait for Carlo Ancelotti to exit Real Madrid for takeover.
However, Christian Falk has claimed that Liverpool will be fighting to the bitter end of the deal to land Xabi Alonso.
