Fabrizio Romano has shed light on who, how many, and in what positions Liverpool will sign players this summer. Furthermore, he even revealed what the Bellingham transfer to Man Utd would depend on.

It has been now confirmed that Liverpool would no longer be in pursuit of signing their long-term midfield target, Bellingham. It had been reported that Klopp had his eyes on the Englishman for a long time and wanted to bring him to Anfield.

With reports suggesting that Dortmund are asking around £135m for the 19-year-old, it has been deemed to be too costly to be signing the midfielder. Also, Klopp is looking at signing more than a midfielder for the next summer. Hence, a midfield rebuild is imminent for the next season. Taking this into factor, FSG have seen this transfer to be no longer financially viable.

‘Liverpool will refresh squad in more than one position: Fabrizio

Liverpool have mainly struggled in the midfield area this season, and hence it is obvious that the Reds would bring in reinforcements for the next season for the midfield. However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool would not restrict themselves to signing only the midfielders.

Talking on his YouTube video, the Italian revealed why the Reds would not be able to afford Bellingham.

“Liverpool will refresh the squad in many positions. Midfielders, but it could also be about centre-back and full-back.

Expect a busy summer for Liverpool with many signings. This is why spending the main part of the budget on one single player was going to create a problem for the club.”

As a few defenders would be shown the exit door by Klopp, the club needs to sign a few defenders as well. The confirmed exits of Matip, and Williams would reduce the number of defenders. Also, with the full-back position solely on Trent, it is reported that Klopp would look to sign a backup for sure.

Romano on more Liverpool signings

“Liverpool will go for at least two midfielders, probably three.

They have to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita. They want to go for important players in those positions.

While talking about other potential midfield signings, Fabrizio said that there could be a possibility of more than 2 players.

I’m still told that Mason Mount is one of the priority targets at Liverpool, they really love the player.

They already had some contact to understand the potential conditions of the deal, but it depends also on who Chelsea’s next manager will be and whether they can reach agreement (on a new Chelsea contract) with Mount. Talks will resume in the coming months, but at the moment it looks complicated [for Mount to sign an extension at Chelsea].

Matheus Nunes of Wolves has always been appreciated, but I’m told he’s not a top priority. He’s one of the names on their list, but he’s not a top priority.

I’m also told Liverpool are keeping an eye on Brighton. Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister are two players appreciated by Liverpool.

In their list there is also the possibility to speak to Brighton over one of their midfielders.”

Could Bellingham be headed to Old Trafford?

It is known that Man Utd are one of the many clubs that are after the signature of Bellingham. However, they had never been the frontrunners in this transfer saga. It was reported that Liverpool and Real Madrid were considered to be the leaders in the transfer.

But, Fabrizio has now revealed that Bellingham’s move to Old Trafford could rely on one specific thing.

“It will probably depend on the owners.

Who is going to be the owners, how much will they give [Ten Hag] to spend, and remember, the priority target remains a central striker.”
