Many are closely watching the progress of former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso as he takes on his managerial role at Bayer Leverkusen and another name popping up right now is Albert Riera.
There’s another former Liverpool player who may become a notable figure in the future.
Albert Riera as Liverpool manager – A Possibility
Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that Albert Riera, the ex-fullback, has finalized a deal to become the head coach of French club Bordeaux, following his stint as the manager of Slovenian side Celje for just over three months.
Riera, now 41 years old, evidently found the opportunity in Ligue 2 too appealing to resist.
While Riera has yet to achieve the same level of recognition as Alonso, who is currently linked with top clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool, he has had a promising start to his senior coaching career.
He has orchestrated 11 victories out of 17 matches in the PRVA Liga and Europa Conference qualifiers, averaging 2.12 points per game.
Although he began his coaching journey in the Slovenian top flight, it’s expected that French football will present a more significant challenge to Riera’s coaching abilities.
Perhaps, in the years to come, we might consider Riera as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp if he can sustain his progress in the coaching arena.
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
