Chelsea will find it extremely difficult to sign a former Tottenham striker thanks to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The LFC manager has plenty of issues to solve this season. But thanks to the Reds recruitment team that made it possible for the German genius. The Merseyside giants moved quickly to snap up Luis Diaz one year ago who admitted strong interest from Tottenham.
Klopp one of the reasons behind the Chelsea deal collapsing
This year the Merseyside giants have signed the Holland international Cody Gakpo from Man United’s gasp. This signing not only made United regret their situation but also created problems for the London side.
Chelsea were linked with another PSV striker Noni Madueke this month. The signing of Gakpo made it almost certain for this move to collapse.
Fabrizio Romano told Caught Offside when addressing the Madueke to Blues speculation
“Yes, Madueke is one of many players appreciated, but they also know PSV Eindhoven have already sold Gakpo and they will try to keep all their stars.”
Romano also said
“Last summer, they were looking for more than €35M(approx. £31M) to sell Madueke.”
The Blues are already in big trouble. They are currently in the 10th position in the Premier League table. Potter is already feeling the heat with his position reportedly coming under the microscope just four months after taking charge.
Race for Thuram is on
According to The Times other than PSV striker Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach is now a potential target for Liverpool. The Blues and the Reds are two of the favorites for the 25-year-old’s signatures.
Other than the Frenchman Jude Bellingham, Mathus Nunes and Enzo Fernandez are among the few names that are frequently linked with Liverpool. After the signing of Dutch international Cody Gakpo, the Merseyside giants are looking to address their midfield issues.
Meanwhile, Klopp seems determined to reach the top 4 and reclaim European dominance with the English side. Let’s see what this winter window still has in store for us.
