Liverpool have reportedly received a concrete bid from Saudi club, Al-Ittihad who are set to offer £40m for the Brazilian CDM, Fabinho.
As per The Athletic, the 29-year-old has been on the radar of the Saudi Pro League team after rumours about Henderson. Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson was also rumoured to be targeted by former Reds’ captain, Gerrard.
The midfielder is expected to be worth around £40m and the decision is said to be taken one way or the other soon.
The Brazilian international still has three years left in his contract which would keep him at the club till 2026.
Fabinho expected to leave Liverpool?
Fabinho signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2018 after a stellar campaign with Monaco. The English side paid an initial fee of £39m and £4m was paid as a performance bonus.
However, there had been doubts over the player’s quality but Klopp turned him into an absolute beast. The holding midfielder helped the Reds win everything and has been crucial for the German.
He has been one of the first names on the team-sheet and has delivered likewise too. However, he had a poor season last time around, like most of the players and failed to win any major honours for the club.
The Anfield club even finished out of the top 4, the first time since the 2015-16 season.
However, the Reds are determined to not repeat the infamous feat as they are undergoing a midfield revamp. This has seen them sign world-class midfielders in the name of Mac Allister and Dominic Szoboszlai for a combined fee of £95m.
But, the Saudi league have started their domination and are signing elite players left and right. The shocking news came when Ruben Neves moved to Al-Hilal for a fee of £47m.
The Portuguese midfielder was approaching his prime and was heavily linked to Liverpool and Barcelona. This has led to a series of elite players, approaching their prime, being signed by Saudi clubs.
Earlier this week, Jordan Henderson was also reported to have received interest from former team-mate Gerrard.
The Reds are still in the market for more midfielders and are targeting the likes of Khephren Thuram and Romeo Lavia.
However, it would be a huge blow for Klopp and his side to lose two experienced personalities like Fabinho and Henderson in the same window.
