Liverpool fullback Kostas Tsimikas has shared a photo of him with midfielder Thiago Alcantara during their rehab process at AXA Training Centre.
The excellent form of the Anfield giants have boosted their lead in the PL points table. They are the 1st placed team with 45 points after the 20th matchday, 3 points clear of 2nd-placed Aston Villa.
Despite the winning streak, the primary concern for manager Jurgen Klopp will be the absence of crucial players due to injury. The injury list includes names like Joel Matip, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak.
The defence is the most troubled department as several key players are injured. The situation is bad to such an extent that Joe Gomez has been deputised as a left-back for the last few games.
As the date of return for neither Robertson nor Tsimikas is specific, the English defender might have to take charge of that role for an extended period.
Tsimikas and Thiago on rehab at AXA Training Centre
In a recent Instagram story, Kostas Tsimikas posted a photo of him and Thiago sitting on gym equipment. The Greek Scouser has tagged the Spaniard with a heart emoji.
Both looked delighted and relaxed as the 32-year-old smiled broadly at the camera, holding a drinks flask in one hand and spreading the other out wide in greeting.
The injured fullback is shirtless in the photo, and one can observe heavy bruising around his chest and shoulder.
Even though a picture is not enough to depict the details, it is confirmed that neither has returned to first-team training. For Thiago, his life at the Merseyside has not been enjoyable as he has mostly been out of action due to injuries.
The left-back, however, had a decent chance to prove his worth after Andy Robertson’s injury. But his unfortunate injury sidelined him just when he started gaining trust from Klopp. On a positive note, the club has called back Owen Beck from loan to solidify the left-back position.
Hopefully, both of them and the other absentees will return to fitness as their contribution in the second half of the season may prove crucial.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
