Liverpool could be keen on signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge in the last days of the transfer window.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, who wrote on his SI & Dan Talk Chelsea that the Reds are set to battle Chelsea to bring Berge to the Premier League. With both teams on the hunt for midfield additions, the Norwegian could be a cut-price addition.

Liverpool interested in Sander Berge

The 24-year-old has been under raider of the German coach for quite some time. The Reds are desperate to add a creative midfielder in their midfield. The Merseyside giants lack the quality and stability in the middle of the park to run the game.

Although the English giants are linked with big names like Jude Bellingham, Enzo Fernandez, and Moises Caicedo but at this moment the Reds do not have the financial muscle power to crack these deals.

The red-hot properties do have a hefty price tag and the Reds have already signed big guns like Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo. But the Merseyside giants are desperate to bring in a midfielder

LFC’s financial difficulties

The 24-year-old seems to be a more feasible option for the Merseyside club. His release clause has previously been reported as being around £35M, with his contract due to expire in summer 2024.

The Norwegian has scored 4 goals and given 3 assists in the 19 matches he played in the Championship. He has a goal record of 0.22 and an assist record of 0.17 per 90 minutes played.

Back in 2019, having played against Liverpool for Genk, Berge told TV2 via The Metro that it was a ‘dream’ to play more at Anfield in the future.

Sander could be a good choice for LFC at present but is he a player to look forward to in the future?
