Klopp thinking of signing a new player

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could complete another signing before Tuesday’s transfer deadline day.

This transfer window started with a bang. Within days of the window opening, the Holland international Cody Gakpo was announced as a Liverpool player following a £37M move from PSV Eindhoven.

But since then the Merseyside giants are linked with many players but no moves have yet been finalized. However, this situation can change dramatically.

Klopp on potential new signing

The Reds’ boss admitted that if there are offers for the 25-year-old, he could leave – as covered by HITC Sport.

And this could indicate that the Merseyside giants have a central defender in mind to come in. This is a bold move by the German manager keeping in mind Virgil van Dijk is sidelined due to injuries.

This left Jurgen with only Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez as options.

There are also some suggestions that the German genius is trying to raise funds to address another more concerned area of the Reds which is the midfield area.

Jude Bellingham is being the main target. The Englishman has been linked with the Reds since the start of the transfer window.

Red’s area of concern

LFC lacks stability in the middle of the park. The current Dortmund midfielder had a great World Cup campaign. He is also been instrumental for the German side. The 19-year-old has played 16 matches in Bundesliga where he scored 4 goals and gave 3 assists to the German side.

Midfield is a concerning area for the Reds but we cannot forget LFC’s defensive vulnerability.

According to FootyStats, the English giants have conceded 25 goals in the 19 matches they played in the 2022-23 season. This is an average of 1.32 goals per match.

Now considering Virgil’s injury the Reds need to think twice before making a move. Gomez can be a major liability and Matip has a long injury history.

Thus, it seems unlikely that the Reds would let Phillips leave if there is no replacement lined up for him.
