Liverpool have had a busy transfer window with players coming and leaving and Fabrizio has just confirmed that Liverpool youngster, Elijah Gift has left the club.
Jurgen Klopp is in the process of rebuilding his squad, thus, signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for a combined fee of around £95m.
Liverpool have had players leaving as the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Keita, and Firmino ran out of contracts.
Now the Italian journalist has confirmed that Liverpool youngster Elijah Gift has left the club to return to his native Spain with Athletic Bilbao. This could be a good move for the Reds considering the transfer fee.
Gift, from Liverpool to Athletic Bilbao
Gift had just completed his first season with Liverpool’s U18 team. He made 20 appearances in 2022/23, scoring four goals and registering three assists for Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s side.
As per Liverpool Echo, Bilbao will pay a fee in the region of £1m for Gift. Moreover, the La Liga club would be paying a premium for the player because of their strict rules around selection.
Bilbao, however, famously only select players born in the Basque region, with Gift himself hailing from the town of Corella.
Meanwhile, Gift took to Instagram on Sunday to post a farewell message to Liverpool and its supporters.
“Dear Reds, sadly, after six years at this amazing club, today marks the end of my journey with Liverpool FC. I am truly grateful for every second I have spent at this special club.
At this point, I would like to express my appreciation for my team-mates, the coaches, staff and everyone for believing in me from day one and pushing me to the best of my ability.
I am forever grateful. #YNWA.”
This might come back to haunt the Reds but for now, Liverpool are sorted in terms of transfers. After getting two ‘incredible’ midfielders, they are still in the market for midfielders and defenders alike.
However, should they get their desired targets, they would be a force to reckon with, just like in the old times.
