Dominik Szoboszlai admits it would be a ‘special experience’ to play for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, which could open up a transfer opportunity.
Liverpool are in pursuit of another midfielder, if not 2 more, after reportedly securing the transfer of Mac Allister from Brighton.
However, it hasn’t been smooth sailing in terms of transfer for Klopp’s side with them not qualifying for UCL next season. Their main transfer targets in Mount, Gravenberch, and Ugarte have stalled for various reasons.
Mount is now reportedly considering Man Utd after their 3rd place finish and securing a trophy after many years. Moreover, they have a dynamic young squad and it seems to have been luring the 24-year-old away.
As with Gravenberch, it was reported that he had been interested in a move to Anfield over a lack of playing time in Munich. However, the arrival of Tuchel is said to have changed that and the Dutchman is not for sale.
Finally, with Ugarte, the player is choosing between Chelsea and PSG after the duo showed interest in the player. Moreover, the two clubs were ready to pay the release clause of around £51m.
However, now the 22-year-old star player, Dominik Szoboszlai has praised Klopp and shown his admiration for the German. This could be a point to ponder for Klopp and could bring the midfielder to Anfield.
Could Dominik Szoboszlai be an option for Liverpool?
While speaking to Index, he spoke about his admiration for Klopp and other top managers.
“It would certainly be a special experience to work under Klopp. As it would be under (Manchester City boss Pep) Guardiola or (Roma’s) Jose Mourinho.
I don’t know what they would be able to get out of me. Relatively few footballers are given all this (opportunity), however. Only the best. I believe I can reach that level, and it would be great to work with any of them one day.”
With 9 goals and 13 assists in 2022/23, 22-year-old Szoboszlai is one of Europe’s most exciting attacking midfielders. Moreover, starlet would presumably have few problems adapting to Klopp’s typically hard-running, high-pressing approach.
Szoboszlai has a £60m release clause in his contract and Liverpool were heavily linked back in 2020. Moreover, Liverpool have had players from the Red Bull clubs in their ranks. Mane, Konate, Minamino, Keita are some examples of having spells at Salzburg or Leipzig.
