Sadio Mane hints he could snub Bayern Munich in favor of Marseille

Liverpool star Sadio Mane hints at joining his childhood club Marseille, rather than Bayern Munich to make a shock transfer twist.

Senegal forward has been heavily linked to exit from Liverpool this summer. As numerous reports suggest Bayern Munich Mane’s next destination.

Earlier, the 30-year-old winger stated, “60 to 70 percent of Senegalese wants him to leave Liverpool”. Meanwhile, Mane enters the final 12 months of his current contract with the Anfield club.

Liverpool had been keen to tie Mane down to a new contract but talks have failed to get off the ground, prompting the forward to explore alternative avenues.

Moreover, according to The Times, Liverpool have now rejected Bayern Munich’s proposal of £21m up front and £4m in add-ons.

In spite of Bavarian’s opening bid being rejected by Klopp’s side, the German giants are in a strong position to land Mane.

But Mane’s recent comments have pricked everyone’s ears with a hint of transfer twist.

The forward has reinforced his love for Marseille in an interview after Senegal’s fixture against Benin.

The Senegal captain has registered 120 goals for the Reds in his six-year stay at Liverpool so far. However, Liverpool No. 10 is all set to move on from Klopp’s side.

Mane scored a hat-trick in his nation’s 3-1 win and was predictably asked about his future at the club level. The winger joked he would pick Marseille over a possible move to Bayern Munich or Barcelona should he leave Liverpool this summer.

Mane in his post-match interview said:

Bayern and Barca? Both teams are good. But I’m not a fan of those teams, you know. My favourite team is Marseille.

However, Bayern are still the hot favourite for Mane’s signature.

Meanwhile, Mane’s hattrick in his nation’s 3-1 win at Benin, his total goals tallies up to 32. The winger has now surpassed Henri Camara as Senegal’s most prolific player in history.
