Romeo Lavia is eager to join Liverpool now after he had a conversation with Jurgen Klopp. The Belgian midfielder has also been a target of Arsenal.

According to a report via Football Transfers, the Reds are in the race for the long game as Southampton have set a price tag of £50M for the 19-year-old.

Romeo Lavia is going to be a player to keep a watch on in the second week of the transfer window. The midfielder was ‘incredible’ for Southampton in the 2022-23 season.

Romeo Lavia wants to join Liverpool after Klopp’s conversation

As per the report, Manchester City have the option to buyback Lavia from Southampton which will be effective in 2024. And keeping that in mind, many teams are working towards the transfer deal before the Citizens look back at the clause.

Reports earlier this month claimed that the Belgian midfielder wanted to join the Gunners. But with them completing the Declan Rice deal, it seems like Lavia has changed his mind.

And now the news outlet has suggested that Liverpool are in pole position to sign the Belgian international. Apparently, Jurgen Klopp had a conversation with him, and that most likely has convinced him to lean towards the Merseysiders.

Having said so, the Reds will not make a move for the 19-year-old if the Saints hold on to the £50M pricetag.

On the other hand, Southampton will be more than happy to keep the midfielder. Even if he goes back to City for £40M, they will still make a profit.

However, much of all the possibilities depend on whether Liverpool are going to pay the asking price or not.

The club has already signed two world-class midfielders in this window. And all they need is a strong defensive midfielder to complete the midfield overhaul and complement the other midfielders.

Now it is up to Liverpool if they will pursue the player and come through with the deal.
