Crystal Palace are reportedly weighing up a summer move for the 22-year-old Liverpool midfielder, Curtis Jones, either on loan or a permanent deal.
The Reds lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and veteran James Milner at the end of last season.
Moreover, they agreed to sell Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi sides Al-Ettifaq FC and Ittihad Club respectively.
This was a headache for Klopp as he is yet to completely rebuild his midfield after the departure of his experienced players.
He did bring in Mac Allister and Szoboszlai but is heavily using Trent and Curtis Jones in the middle of the park as well.
The 22-year-old has been getting a lot of minutes and he was the best midfielder in a disappointing season last time.
However, the Reds are very close to completing the signing of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
And now, as per CaughtOffside, there could be another midfielder going out as Crystal Palace are interested in Curtis Jones.
Curtis attracting interest from Liverpool rivals
Palace manager Roy Hodgson is understood to be pushing to sign the 22-year-old central midfielder. The Englishman currently has 4 years left on his current Liverpool contract.
The Liverpool-born midfielder is believed to be the exact kind of player that the Eagles need to sign. However, there is no agreement in place yet as the Eagles are still weighing up whether to make the deal a loan move or a permanent one.
Meanwhile, for Jones, even though he played well in the closing games of last season, his development hasn’t been great.
Compared to the 2020-21 season, he started a game less, and with Palace, he could get more minutes. Also, in a team full of young stars, he could be a standout player and improve a lot.
This could be a major reason which could convince him to sign for Palace. While with Brighton midfielder now joining the Merseyside club, Jones might not get the desired minutes on the pitch.
Thus, a loan move could turn out to be a win-win for both clubs. It is to be seen how the saga unfolds.
