Jurgen Klopp confirmed Mo Salah and Sadio Mane’s plans for Thursday night’s game against Leicester City.
Mane and Salah were both involved in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, which left a doubt around their involvement against Leicester.
Speaking to the press, ahead of the game Jurgen Klopp cleared these doubts.
Klopp talks Mo Salah and Sadio Mane ahead of Leicester game
While the champion of AFCON Mane went to his home country to celebrate, Salah returned to Merseyside on Monday. Hence, Salah has trained before the game, while Mane is yet to join the Reds squad.
Liverpool have confirmed that Mo Salah is due to take part in the recovery session at the AXA training centre. If the medical staff gives clearance after the session, the Egyptian could be part of the Leicester game.
Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, Klopp said,
to play him as often and as long as possible is probably the plan.
He also added that he had a conversation with Mo Salah,
I spoke to him and pretty much the first thing Mo told me was: ‘I’m ready’. He is an experienced player, he is a physical monster, to be honest, so we have to see.
He added that he will not leave Salah out of the team for the wrong reasons and that if he is ready, he will be involved.
While there is a good chance that Mo Salah will be in the match squad against Leicester, even if he does not start, there is no chance that Sadio Mane will be involved.
Speaking about Mane, Klopp said:
Sadio [has] no chance as he’s not even here,(…).Sadio flies out if it’s possible on Wednesday night, so will arrive here on Thursday but he is, of course, then not involved in the Leicester game.
Are you excited to see Mo Salah back on the pitch? Can we also see him playing with new signing Luis Diaz?
