Jamaican international and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio is in shock as a journalist asked Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp if the Merseyside derby needs a replay.
The Reds registered a comfortable 2-0 victory against Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season on this Saturday.
However, controversy is still following the Anfield side regarding the red card of Ashley Young.
The Toffees defender received a controversial red card for two consecutive yellow cards for both fouls committed on Luis Diaz.
But Ibrahima Konate only received one yellow card, even though some pundits believed he deserved a second yellow.
Klopp was clever enough to take him off and replace him with Joel Matip. However, the British media found a way to trouble the LFC coach.
Michail Antonio backs Jurgen Klopp
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio exclaimed his concerns about the question asked to Klopp. He said,
“One of the journalists asked Klopp a question and he went: ‘Do you feel Everton deserve a replay? Klopp has just gone: ‘Are you kidding me?’
Mate, some of these journalists are brazen! I don’t even get how. The cheek! Like they can come here and ask these questions, it’s absolutely mad.”
The beef between the English media and the Reds manager is nothing new. The German has been facing absurd and whacky questions since he joined the PL.
And it seems like the English media likes to butcher Klopp with these questions.
Although the case for Ashley Young’s controversial red card can be made, the speculation of a potential replay is absolutely ridiculous.
Obviously, the boss was composed to answer the question, without delving too much into the conversation.
And the claiming reasons for a replay are nothing compared to what the Merseyside club has faced this season. But for now, Liverpool are focused on Thursday’s European clash against Toulouse.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
