Liverpool are eager to secure the future of their star Mohamed Salah as contract talks are set to begin soon.
The Egyptian forward, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, recently hinted at the possibility of this being his last year at Anfield.
Salah’s situation has left fans and the club anxious, as Liverpool risks losing one of their top players on a free transfer if no agreement is reached before January.
With Salah now able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs in January, Liverpool are aiming to avoid a worst-case scenario. Alongside Salah, two other key players, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk, are also entering the final years of their contracts.
While the future of the English right-back and the Dutch defender remains unclear, Salah’s situation appears to be a top priority for the club.
Liverpool Hopeful for a Quick Resolution for Mohamed Salah
Salah was previously the subject of a massive £150 million bid from Al Ittihad in the summer, but Liverpool stood firm and rejected the offer. Speaking after a recent 3-0 win against Manchester United, Salah gave fans more reason to worry. “Nobody in the club talked to me yet about contracts,” Salah revealed in a post-match interview with Sky Sports. “I feel I am free to play football – we will see what happens next year.”
According to reports from Football Insider, Liverpool are now preparing to act. The club hopes to finalize a new deal for Salah before the end of the year, avoiding the risk of losing him without compensation.
Salah is currently Liverpool’s highest earner with a weekly wage of £350,000, and the Reds are confident they can extend his stay with improved terms.
As Liverpool works to resolve the contract issues of their three key players, the clock is ticking. Will they manage to keep their Egyptian king at Anfield, or could Salah be tempted by offers from elsewhere?
