Mohamed Salah desperate for new Liverpool contract amid uncertainty
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is reportedly eager to extend his stay at Anfield beyond this summer, despite no formal discussions about a new contract.
With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, fans are left wondering why Liverpool have not yet moved to secure the Egyptian forward’s future.
Mohamed Salah shines despite contract doubts
Salah was in top form during Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford, scoring once and providing two assists.
Yet, the forward revealed after the match that he has not been approached by the club to discuss an extension. “Honestly, I had a good summer,” Salah said. “I just want to enjoy it, I don’t want to think about it but I feel free to play football, we will see next year.”
This news has puzzled many, including former footballer Chris Sutton, who expressed disbelief at the lack of contract talks. “I would be staggered if Liverpool haven’t offered him a new deal,” Sutton stated. “Salah has come back hungry and super fit. I’m sure there will be an offer soon.”
Salah’s current deal, signed in 2022, makes him one of Liverpool’s top earners.
But with only months left, the forward will soon be able to negotiate a free transfer to foreign clubs, leaving fans anxious about his future.
Liverpool’s big decision
Salah isn’t the only key player facing contract uncertainty. Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also in the final year of their deals. Many believe that Liverpool’s management, still adjusting after changes behind the scenes, will need to act quickly to avoid losing their star players.
For now, Salah remains focused on his game, but the question lingers: Will Liverpool secure his future or risk losing one of their greatest-ever players? The ball is now in Liverpool’s court.
