Liverpool could see Curtis Jones return to the starting lineup for their upcoming Europa League clash against Toulouse while Wataru Endo could end up pairing with him in the midfield.
Jones was sidelined for Liverpool’s last two Premier League matches due to a red card he received in a match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old initially received a yellow card for a challenge on Yves Bissouma, which was later upgraded to a red following a VAR consultation.
While Jones served a three-match Premier League suspension, he’s eligible to play in UEFA competitions, making him a potential starter in Liverpool’s third Group E Europa League fixture.
Wataru Endo to replace Ryan Gravenberch
The Englishman may replace Ryan Gravenberch, who started alongside summer signings Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister in the last Premier League match against Everton.
A victory against Toulouse would put Liverpool on the path to securing qualification for the knockout phase. To join Jones in midfield, Wataru Endo is expected to feature, alongside Harvey Elliott on the right.
In defense, Kostas Tsimikas is likely to continue deputizing for the injured Andy Robertson, while Joel Matip and Jarell Quansah are contenders for a starting role in central defense. Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to remain in goal.
On the attacking front, Darwin Nunez may return to the frontline, and Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah are likely to maintain their positions from the recent Merseyside derby victory.
However, with Salah playing in numerous matches this season, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp might opt to rest him for the Europa League clash.
Projected Liverpool XI vs. Toulouse: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Quansah, Tsimikas; Endo, Elliott, Jones; Diaz, Nunez, Salah.
