Liverpool are reportedly looking to submit a player plus cash bid to sign Arsenal target and Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer.
Football Transfers have reported that the Reds are looking to include Tyler Morton in a cash-plus-player deal for Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool to try and sign Lavia
After potentially losing two of their serious targets in Bellingham and Ugarte over the summer, Liverpool would be looking to bring in a few midfielders for the next season.
Moreover, their interest in long-time targets, Gravenberch seems to be hitting a dead end. Reports have suggested that it would be difficult for the Dutch midfielder to move away from Germany after Tuchel’s appointment.
However, it is not all gloom for the Reds’ fans. Mac Allister seems to have agreed ‘personal terms‘ with the club, as reported in recent weeks. But assuming Mac Allister signs for Liverpool, one signing is not sufficient for Klopp. Besides, the list of targets is huge and Klopp needs at least 5 signings, 2 or 3 of which must be midfielders.
He has lost 3 of his midfielders this season in Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Keita, and would be looking at their replacements.
According to the reports, Liverpool are lining up a summer swoop for Lavia to strengthen their midfield. Also, Southampton are ready to cash in if they receive an offer of around £50m.
The report further claims that the Reds are planning to include Tyler Morton in a part-exchange deal to lower the Saints asking price. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether Southampton decides to accept Liverpool’s proposal.
Liverpool not the only contenders
However, Arsenal are also said to be competing for the Belgian midfielder. Though the Gunners lost the title to Man City after being on top for a long time, it has been a great campaign for them. They have qualified for UCL after 6 years.
Furthermore, Arteta now looks to strengthen his squad and compete further the next season. They have been linked with Rice and Caicedo but Lavia is said to be on their radar as well.
Hence, the Reds need to battle it out for the dynamic midfielder and beat the Gunners for his signature.
