Liverpool are now growing interest in Corinthians midfielder Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo alongside clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona.
The Reds are desperately scouring the transfer market to sign a new defensive-midfielder this January.
Even though they had one of the most extensive midfield rebuilds in the club’s history, they just could not find a proper replacement for Fabinho.
Despite the availability of Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, manager Jurgen Klopp chose to play Alexis Mac Allister in the deeper holding-midfielder role.
And the Merseysiders had identified Fluminese star midfielder Andre Trindade as their top target for the winter transfer window. But after his performance in the Copa Libertadores final win, many clubs have grown interest in the 22-year-old.
Because of his increased fee due to the increased demand, the Anfield giants might be pulling out of the race. Instead, they have identified a new candidate to fill in the gap in the midfield.
Liverpool to sign Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo?
According to the latest report via TeamTalk, LFC are ready to lock horns with Chelsea to sign the 18-year-old midfielder. The Blues have already submitted two bids to the Brazilian side in the summer to sign Moscardo.
The 18-year-old is a defensive midfielder who rose through the youth ranks of Corinthians. In 2023-24 he made his senior professional debut for the Brazilian Serie A side. So far he has made 15 appearances for the club in the domestic league.
Despite being only 18 years old, Moscardo has already made his place in the Corinthians senior team and is also representing Brazil’s U-23 team.
His contract with his current club runs out in 2026 so signing him could cost the Reds a little on the heavier side. However, the midfielder has a good relation with Corinthians so he might not actually leave the club which gave him his professional debut.
Now it remains to be seen how Liverpool execute this signing before other clubs.
