Liverpool are reportedly willing to be keen on selling the 32-year-old Spaniard, Thiago Alcantara this summer despite two other senior midfielders rumoured to be leaving.
As per Football Insider, it is claimed that the Reds may still sanction the Spaniard’s departure due to his age.
Not over-looking his injury records, the finances offered by Saudi clubs might be too good to turn down for Klopp.
However, he would only be allowed to leave if there are replacements for him and other midfielders who are tipped to leave. Fabinho and Henderson are also said to be heading to the Middle East this summer.
This would leave Klopp with no senior midfielders at the helm for next season. We might be seeing new faces in the middle of the park at Anfield.
Moreover, earlier this month, it may have sounded plausible that the Reds were ready to let go of the Spaniard. But now as there are doubts over the future of his 2 team-mates, that notion must be cast aside by Liverpool.
Thiago to stay with Liverpool this season?
Indeed Liverpool could get a good fee for Thiago now, considering his contract is set to expire next season.
But it seems like Klopp isn’t ready to take the risk of losing his experienced midfielder. This is after having all of his experienced midfielders already having left the club or are in the process of leaving.
Liverpool will still need some experience in the middle of the park to complement the youthful talents they already have.
And the thought of losing Milner, Henderson, Fabinho, and Thiago all in one summer could leave them wanting that experience.
Also not to forget how magnificent of a player the former Bayern man has been till date. He was even dubbed the ‘Rolls Royce of a Player’ by Jim White in 2022.
However, it might also be a wise decision to take the cash the Saudi clubs might have to offer for the aging midfielder. And thus, invest those in opting other promising star players.
