Liverpool are interested in signing the World Cup semi-finalist with Morocco, Sofyan Amrabat, from Fiorentina, who is said to cost around £35m.
With the Reds signing the Brighton midfielder, Mac Allister, Klopp is now looking at defensive midfielders. Now, as per reports, Liverpool are trying to lure in the Moroccan midfielder, Amrabat who was instrumental in the African nation’s run to the World Cup semi-finals.
However, if reports are to be believed, the Fiorentina midfielder was approached by the Anfield club in January. But the Italian club refused to sell the midfielder, who is considered a prized asset.
Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Liverpool have made contact to sign the African this summer. As per the sources, Amrabat is ready to leave the Italian side this summer.
According to reports from La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Fiorentina are setting a £35m price tag on the defensive midfielder.
Moreover, the 26-year-old is said to be preferring a move to the Catalan side, Barcelona. However, Xavi’s side have deemed the asking price of £30m plus add-ons to be expensive.
Liverpool try to lure Amrabat
After an impressive World Cup performance, Amrabat has garnered a lot of attention from clubs across Europe. Amrabat helped his nation keep clean sheets against Croatia and Belgium in the group stages. Also, in the Knock-out stages versus Spain and Portugal in Qatar.
His top performances earned Morocco a place in the semi-finals of the competition. Hence, Liverpool seems to be interested in his services.
At around £35m, he would be a good option and might as well replace Fabinho. The Brazilian, even though comes from the back of a poor season, has been instrumental for Klopp and his midfield.
However, a two-man pivot wouldn’t harm the Reds with both Fabinho and Amrabat in the holding positions. Moreover, the attacking options looks great after the signing of Mac Allister.
This might be a good signing and if we know anything about Klopp and average players, Amrabat would surely hit his peak under the German.
