Liverpool In Talks With Ligue 1 Manager As Ruben Amorim Deal In Doubt: Report

Liverpool are reportedly holding talks with Lille manager Paulo Fonseca after move for Ruben Amorim looks to be in jeopardy.

With the latest report concerning the diversion of Ruben Amorim taking a flight to hold talks with London side West Ham United, the managerial saga at LFC has taken a new turn.

Since the announcement of Jurgen Klopp‘s departure at the season-end, the club has been shortlisting several names as the potential replacement of the German manager.

Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso had been the top candidate for the longest time. However, the former Red confirming his stay at the German club left the Merseyside officials to look for more options.

Ruben Amorim, the current Sporting CP manager, was the obvious choice as successor to Klopp until recently.

The current situation at Anfield is more complex than anyone can think of and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion looks to lead the race now.

The names which have also been mentioned in the mix are: Tottenham Hotspurs boss Ange Postecoglou and Feyenoord boss Arne Slot.

Liverpool Might Appoint Paulo Fonseca

Amid all the ruckus, Anfield Watch claims that the Reds might be in talks with Lille manager Paulo Fonseca.

The report has claimed that the Portuguese tactician is ‘admired by’ club officials and had ‘informal talks’ earlier this season regarding the managerial position.

Fonseca had been the manager of Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk between 2016 and 2019. During his term, he led Shakhtar to three consecutive league and cup doubles.

Even though since taking over Les Dogues back in 2022, the Portuguese has led the French side to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League before losing to Aston Villa and are currently in the fourth position in Ligue 1.

Fonseca is also an expert at promoting young talents to senior set up effectively which aligns with the Anfield giants’ vision.

The next few days will be crucial for Liverpool and the decision the club takes will be affecting them positively or negatively.
