‘Wonderful Goals: Liverpool Boss Explains How The Analytics Team Contributed To Fulham Victory!
Jurgen Klopp has revealed in the post-match press conference how the analytics department of Liverpool helped them secure victory against Fulham.
The Merseyside giants bounced back to winning ways last evening as they defeated Fulham 3-0 in the weekender PL clash.
It was their first win since the last victory against Sheffield United which came back in the first week of April. Since then they have lost three games and drew one game across all competitions.
This win also helped the Reds to restore their confidence and faith in Jurgen Klopp‘s process after their recent Europa League exit.
Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring for the visitors at Craven Cottage with a sumptuous free-kick. After the match, Klopp analyzed the goal in the post-match press conference.
“(Doesn’t score free-kicks) often enough actually, I would say! I think Harvey Elliott has 10% or 15% of the goal because we analysed Fulham and saw the wall is jumping and told Harvey, ‘Try to go under it.’
They obviously were not really jumping, only a little bit so Harvey could not go through with it. The crowd was laughing. But pretty sure, maybe next the time the wall didn’t jump as high as they maybe usually do. Great free-kick, he has that from time to time.”
Klopp’s analysis of the Trent free-kick.
Even though Timothy Castagne equalized for the Cottagers in the dying minutes of the first-half, the goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota in the 53rd and 72nd minute respectively, secured the game for the Anfield giants.
Liverpool VS Fulham: Jurgen Klopp Lauds Analytics Team
Speaking in the same press conference, the German tactician appreciated the efforts of the analytics team of LFC.
Without their input, the opening goal would not have been possible. Klopp continued to say,
“Wonderful goals. Bernd Leno asked me after the game, ‘What kind of goals do you always score against us?’ He probably means against him! Yeah, that’s true. We had a few crazy ones but we needed it.
It was a great goal. The other goals were as good. For a long period of time, Trent was exceptional. Super helpful to have him back.”
This much needed victory has secured their place right below table-toppers Arsenal, who share the same amount of points, 74, after 33 games played.
As the title race has intensified, every victory will be very important to secure the PL silverware. Liverpool are determined to win the title for a deserving farewell of Jurgen Klopp.
