Liverpool are now eyeing a potential transfer of Bundesliga star Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt in this January.

The Merseysiders endured a tough last season where they finished at the 5th place in the PL points table just missing out on Champions League football.

French FA confirm Ibrahima Konate injury as return date revealed

And to change that around they appointed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

The midfield revamp has worked out pretty well as the team is currently 2nd on the PL points table after 12 games. But this has not stopped the Reds from scouting further midfield options.

The Anfield giants are in dire need of a defensive midfielder this January and they will go all in at least one signing. But the latest report suggests they might be in for more.

Liverpool interested in Julian Brandt

According to a recent report via The Mirror, LFC are interested in the German midfielder. This interest dates back to 2017 when Klopp allegedly preferred him over Mohamed Salah.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star joined Dortmund in 2019 and has been an indispensable member since.

Liverpool have flown to Brazil for talks over £20M transfer – Not Andre

The attacking midfielder had a spectacular last season especially when he scored 9 times and assisted 8 goals in 32 league matches.

Brandt, in this season, has played 3 games in the Champions League, scored 1 goal, and averaged 3.7 key passes per game (stats via Sofascore).

His ex-boss Peter Bosz lauded the 27-year-old as ‘exceptional’ for his capabilities. However, this season has not been very flashy for him.

Liverpool star forward could now miss Man City clash following the international break

The report has claimed that Reds’ PL rivals Newcastle United and Arsenal are both keeping tabs on the talented midfielder.

However, the German giants are determined to keep him for the second half of the season.

His contract with Borussia Dortmund runs out in 2026. So the club is not in a hurry to cash in on him. But if Liverpool choose to sign Brandt this winter or at the end of this season, they will have to move swiftly.
