Ryan Gravenberch is on the transfer radar of Liverpool and they have indicated that they would be willing to match his current salary at Bayern to move ahead with the transfer.
Bayern Munich’s Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has told Liverpool he is open to a summer move to Anfield.
As per Mirror, the Reds have already contacted his father and his agent about the 20-year-old’s interest in moving to Anfield.
After just one season of football in Germany, the Dutch midfielder doesn’t seem to be happy about the gametime he is offered in the Bundesliga club. He has featured 27 times across all competitions for the Bundesliga giants.
Moreover, with Klopp looking to bring in new recruits for his midfield, the former Ajax man could be one of them.
Gravenberch to Liverpool: could it happen?
Currently, the midfielder earns around £100,000-a-week in Germany. This suggests that the Reds need to offer him a £200,000-a-week contract just to match those terms.
However, it is reported that his salary is not an issue when spoke to his advisers in Amsterdam last Wednesday. Moreover, Liverpool believes that Bayern would be open to selling the player if they could recover the £16.3 million they paid Ajax last summer.
Gravenberch became one of the regulars for Eric Ten Hag’s side after making his debut in the 2020-21 season. However, he made a switch to the German giants after having 103 appearances for Ajax.
He even won the Johan Cruyff trophy while in Holland but lately hasn’t been getting much game time. This has caused frustration and he is now reportedly looking at a potential transfer to Liverpool.
Moreover, with the ongoing Jude Bellingham saga, Klopp would be looking at other midfield options as well.
Gravenberch is flattered by Liverpool’s interest after losing his way under Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern. However, club officials urged him to be patient and Thomas Tuchel spoke glowingly about him after succeeding Nagelsmann as Byern’s head coach.
But Gravenberch has only featured in one of Tuchel’s first four games. It was when he came on a 10-minute cameo as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday.
It would be now interesting to see if Ryan Gravenberch becomes Klopp’s first signing in the rebuilding process.
