Liverpool are expected to welcome back Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz for their upcoming match against Manchester City, according to Goal.

Nunez set to return against Man City

Nunez had previously withdrawn from Uruguay’s national team due to injury, leading to concerns that he might miss the game against City.

However, these concerns have proven to be unfounded, and he will be available for selection. Meanwhile, Diaz has been out for six months due to a knee injury but is set to make his long-awaited return against City.

Nunez and Diaz’s returns could not have come at a better time for Liverpool, who are looking to salvage something from what has been an underwhelming season.

A win against City would be a great start to their Premier League run-in, especially considering their current position, seven points shy of the top four.

Although City have not beaten Liverpool in the Premier League for over two years, they will be determined to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be looking to prove themselves and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp provides an injury update

Ahead of the match, Jurgen Klopp has provided a positive update on Nunez’s shoulder injury, which he sustained against Newcastle, as well as Diaz’s recovery from a long-term knee injury.

However, Thiago’s hip injury is likely to keep him out for the long term, and Joe Gomez is still unavailable.

But in his pre-match press conference, the manager confirmed that both Nunez and Ibrahima Konate were able to train “completely normal” on Monday. He said,

“When they’re all in the squad is not too small. It’s not that we don’t have players.”

But we never had them together and most of the time we have six, seven, eight players out. Now we don’t have that amount and hopefully it stays like this.

That would be massively helpful for this decisive part of the season.”

Overall, Liverpool will be hoping that the return of Nunez and Diaz can help turn their season around and secure a win against City, while the latter will be eager to reduce the gap on Arsenal at the top of the table.
