Gary Lineker has his concerns over Liverpool’s only transfer move in the summer of 2024, Federico Chiesa from Juventus, the English legend has his doubts about his form.
Only Chiesa was added to Liverpool during the quiet transfer window in contrast to their rivals Manchester United who made significant purchases and added numerous players.
Federico Chiesa was acquired by Liverpool for £12.5 million from Seria A powerhouse Juventus many football enthusiasts considered this to be a great deal.
The English legendary player, Gary Lineker expressed his concerns after hearing from the Serie A pundits about the Italian’s form.
Lineker expressing his concern about Chiesa
Italian football expert James Horncastle wasn’t impressed with the signing according to Lineker in a podcast.
He said,
“I saw a piece (on Chiesa) from James Horncastle, the Italian (football) specialist,” said Lineker. He was saying that ‘he wasn’t so sure’.
He said that ‘he had that amazing breakout season around the Euros in 2021’, and he had a fantastic season.
But he says, since then, he has generally struggled. He wasn’t even the first choice for the Italian national team in what was a really poor Italian national team, so he says he isn’t particularly convinced.“
On the other hand, Liverpool’s legendary winger Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool has become the centre of attention overshadowing Chiesa’s arrival.
With a goal and two assists against United, Salah demonstrated his continued excellence.
Maintaining a balance between important players like Salah and new additions like Chiesa will be essential to Liverpool’s success as they look to the future under Slot.
