Liverpool fans, get ready – Federico Chiesa is set to make his full debut for the Reds in the Carabao Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday.
After teasing fans with two cameo appearances, the Italian winger is now ready to showcase his skills from the start.
Chiesa, who came off the bench against both AC Milan and Bournemouth, caught the eye at Anfield with a long-range shot on goal with his first touch.
Now, Arne Slot has confirmed that the new signing is fit enough to start, though fans might not see him for the full 90 minutes just yet.
Slot confirms rotation with Chiesa starting for Carabao Cup clash against West Ham
Speaking ahead of the third-round tie, Slot admitted,
“I don’t think he’s able to play 90 minutes. He only played 25 now, as a maximum, in the last three, four, five months… But he’s able to start, in our opinion.”
The Liverpool boss is expected to shuffle his squad once again, as he did for the 3-0 win over Bournemouth. With the Reds fighting on multiple fronts, including the Premier League and European competitions, Slot has hinted that squad rotation is key to keeping players fresh.
“I want all of them to play. Unfortunately, that’s not possible, because you can only name 11,” Slot explained.
With Chiesa set to start and several key players expected to be rested, fans might see a mix of youth and experience against West Ham.
Liverpool fans will be hoping for more magic from Chiesa, whose creativity and energy could light up Anfield. Could Chiesa be the fresh spark that helps Liverpool kick on to another Carabao Cup run?
One thing is certain – if Chiesa finds his feet, the Hammers might be in for a tough night.
