Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold finds himself at a crossroads as his current contract edges closer to its end.
With Real Madrid circling, former Premier League winger Andros Townsend believes the defender will have a tough time saying no to a move to the Bernabéu.
The 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Liverpool, winning the Premier League and Champions League, but with his contract running down, he will soon be able to talk to potential suitors.
As it stands, the right-back could leave on a free transfer, with Real Madrid waiting in the wings.
“Real Madrid Offer Is Hard to Refuse” – Suggest Andros for Trent Alexander-Arnold
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Townsend shared his thoughts on Alexander-Arnold’s situation.
“I don’t think he wants to leave Liverpool, or is searching to leave,” he said. “But if there is interest from Real Madrid, I don’t think you can turn it down. He’s won it all at Liverpool, and Real Madrid is a challenge that’s difficult to refuse.”
Trent wouldn’t be the first Red to swap Anfield for Madrid. Liverpool legends Xabi Alonso, Michael Owen, and Steve McManaman have all made the move in the past. And according to Townsend, a similar switch might be on the cards in 2025.
Liverpool fans will be eager to see their homegrown hero remain at the club, but the lure of the Spanish giants may prove too tempting.
Real Madrid may be keeping an eye on the situation, but as Chris Sutton puts it, “How many clubs are bigger than Real Madrid?”
Liverpool needs to act fast, or they risk losing a key figure of their squad to one of the biggest clubs in the world. Will Trent stay loyal to Liverpool, or will the Bernabeu be calling his name soon?
